Ant-man movie review

Oh boy! Finally, Ant-man came on the big screen for everyone to enjoy this summer! We are major fans of all movies that have to do with superheroes. We might not like all the superheroes, but we know that these movies are going to bring us a great entertaining treat. Both my husband and I have been into comic books. Therefore, we get very excited when we know that one of those comic-book characters is going to appear in the big screen. We start wondering who is going to play the superhero, the villain, and the rest of the crew. It is always a very amusing process. In my opinion, Ant-man is not one of those superheroes that you hear about often, like others that get the movies remade over and over again. I am not complaining, because some of those are our favorites, but sometimes we do want to see other superheroes that have great stories in the big screen as well. This is why we were very impatient for this movie to come.

(Sorry in advance for the not-so-perfect drawing. I had no images that I could use for this post, so I made my own, hee-hee)

Review

Likes: The movie has a great story line. The way it is unfolding from beginning to the end makes it easy for anyone to understand what had happened and what is about to happen. You don't have to be a superhero fan, or know the Ant-man story to understand what is happening. So that is a great thing for those that just want to see the movie for entertainment purposes. The makeup artists were fantastic! I love to be able to see characters portrayed younger to represent a different time period, and then later show them older to understand that time has passed. The outfits and costumes were great! Special effects were outstanding as always with this movies; There was no surprise there. I really enjoy that uniformity in special effects, because it makes all of these movies follow a standard in order to go along with the story. They were exciting but not too distracting to get lost from the story-line. The movie had a lot of action, and great sense of humor. Something that is starting to become a trademark in my opinion of this sort of movies. It truly makes the whole family have a great time. Remember to stay through the credits! These movies tend to have a little preview of what is coming in the future.

Areas for improvement: There wasn't anything that I didn't like about the movie. However, we watched it in 3D, and it wasn't the experience I was looking for. I am not a big fan of watching movies in 3D, so please don't let me discourage you. The thing is this; the 3D glasses tend to be a bit darker, therefore you are looking at a different quality of colors from the original on screen. When you are detailed oriented like I am, it does matter. The images that allowed you to see behind the character were great, it gives you dimension, even makes you feel like you are there watching in real life. The problem comes with the images that pop out. If you are sitting down in the middle or top part of the theater, you see the images cut off. When the main character is in the middle area of the focus, the item or person that pops out becomes blurry. Because there were a lot of those blurry popping out items, I started getting a migraine and decided to watch part of the movie without the 3D glasses, which is not the best experience. I just felt like this was not the type of movie I would like to see on 3D. Other than that, the movie in itself was great! We don't go to the movies often, but I am glad we did see this one on the big screen, because it was totally worth our while and money. I am sure that this will become a movie that will be part of our DVD collection once it comes out.

I was talking to my brother this morning, who is in Mexico, and who also watched the movie this past weekend. He told me that though the movie was everything we were expecting, he just didn't like that the story felt crammed up at the beginning. He felt like it was too quick from when Lang showed up into the world, to when he was chosen by Dr. Pym. Though I do understand what he is saying, I feel like it is just the way it is with the first movies when introducing a new superhero, since most of the audience becomes inpatient to see the superhero in action saving the world. His argument was very valid, and I liked that he shared his opinion with me so we could also share with you from another point of view.

Would we recommend this movie? Totally! Something that we really enjoy about movies like Ant-man, is that it follows a story-line with the sister movies. All of the Avenger and other Marvel movies that have been coming out, have one thing in common aside of having Comic-book Creator Stan Lee on them; the stories are all intertwined. It is one of the best things about them. You get to enjoy a good movie, and you get to see a scoop of what is coming. Then, if you also happen to watch the series of Marvel's Agents of Shield, it continues with a parallel story line that will take you to the next movie. It's like watching what is happening with your favorite characters before the next major superhero event happens in this alternate Marvel universe.

Overall, this movie was exciting, intriguing, and tons of fun to watch.

We really hope that you enjoyed reading this post, and if you've seen this movie already, that you also had a great time watching it. If you haven't seen this movie yet, we hope this post encourages you to see it so you can also have a great time being entertained by top-of-the-line actors.

And of course, don't forget to smile, because it is contagious!
